Pelican fish
This is the only species in the largemouth genus. It got its name from its incredibly swollen mouth, which looks like a pelican's pouch.
The volume of this eel sac reaches 100 cubic centimeters - this is 11 times the volume of the body! The fish themselves are 50-60 cm long. When the fish inflates its mouth, it looks like a large balloon on a string. The pelican fish has been studied very little, because it lives at a depth of 500-1000 m.
Scientists suggest that the pelican fish feeds like a whale, swallowing fish and fry along with water, filtering it and then releasing the water out.
