Images from the tomb of Pacal, an ancient ruler of the Mayan civilization, at the Temple of the Inscriptions in Palenque, Mexico.
On the lid of his sarcophagus there is a mysterious image that can be interpreted as a symbol of Pakal's rebirth. The shape of this image resembles a certain technical device, inside of which Pacal himself is depicted.
In a modern interpretation, this image can be associated with controlling some type of equipment, for example, an aircraft. The artists deliberately simplified the details to enhance the contrast of the image. Some have even attempted to create a conceptual idea of what the device could look like.
